The Consequences...

Update: First Grade Field Trip to a Gay Wedding
The same week that the No on 8 campaign launched an ad stating that same-sex marriage would be taught in schools, a first grade class took a school sponsored trip to a gay wedding. Eighteen first graders (ages 5 and 6) traveled to San Francisco’s City Hall for the wedding of their teacher and her lesbian partner.
The wedding was officiated by San Francisco Mayer Gavin Newsom, who arrogantly reported that “The door’s wide open now. It’s going to happen whether you like it or not.”

Six Consequences if Proposition 8 Fails

1. 
   
   Children in public schools will have to be taught, by law, that same-sex marriage is just as good as traditional marriage. The California Education Code requires that health education classes teach children about marriage. Unless Prop 8 passes, children will be taught that marriage is between any two adults, regardless of gender.


2. 
   
   Pastors, priests, ministers, bishops, rabbis and other clergymen will be forced by law to perform same-sex marriages. Churches may be sued over their tax exempt status if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings.


3. 
   
   Religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their right to only place children in homes with both a mother and father. Catholic churches in Boston, Massachusetts have already been forced to shut down their adoption agencies because of legalized same-sex marriage.


4. 
   
   Religions that sponsor private schools with married student housing may be required to provide housing for same-sex couples, even if counter to church doctrine.


5. 
   
   Ministers who preach against same-sex marriage may be sued for hate speech and risk government fines, this has already been seen in Canada. A recent California court stated that municipal employees may not use phrases such as "traditional marriage" or "family values" because it is a form of hate speech.


6. 
   
   It will cost us all money. The change in the definition of marriage will bring a myriad of lawsuits. Some lawsuits that have already been lost are photographers cannot refuse to photograph gay marriages and doctors cannot refuse to perform artificial insemination of gays.

Think of all the many consequences that have yet to surface...

The Family: A Proclamation to the World

A little Background...

In 2000 over 61% of Californians voted in favor of Proposition 22 to reaffirm that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California. However, because this language wasn’t put into the state Constitution when it was approved, four activist judges from San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote. In November 2008, Proposition 8 gives California voters the opportunity to reverse the court’s decision and restore the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman in the state Constitution.

What is Proposition 8?

Proposition 8 is about preserving marriage, it contains the same 14 words that were previously approved in 2000 by over 61% of California voters: "Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." By putting these words directly into the state Constitution, the court cannot strike them down as unconstitutional. Proposition 8 doesn’t take away any rights or benefits from gay or lesbian domestic partners. Under California law, "domestic partners shall have the same rights, protections and benefits" as married spouses. (Family Code §297.5.) There are no exceptions to this. Proposition 8 will not change this.

What does this mean for our future?

Proposition 8 protects our children from being taught in public schools that same-sex marriage is the same as traditional marriage. In health education classes, state law requires teachers to instruct children as young as kindergartners about marriage. (Education Code §51890.) If the same-sex marriage ruling is not overturned, teachers will be required to teach young children that there is no difference between gay marriage and traditional marriage.
Proposition 8 protects marriage as an essential institution of society. Proposition 8 protects marriage and the important role of a traditional family. While death, divorce or other circumstances may prevent the ideal, the best situation for a child is to be raised by a married mother and father.

Voting Yes on Prop8 will:

- Restore the definition of marriage to what the vast majority of California voters already approved and human history has understood marriage to be.

- Overturn the outrageous decision of four activist Supreme Court judges who ignored the will of the people.

- Protect our children from being taught in public schools that "same-sex marriage" is the same as traditional marriage.

Update: Terms Bride and Groom Restored to Marriage Licenses

The San Francisco Chronicle reported yesterday that the Department of Public Health is restoring the terms “Bride” and “Groom” to marriage licenses. If you recall, these terms were replaced with the “gender neutral terms” “Party A” and “Party B” soon after same-sex marriage was legalized in California, further proof that the legalization of same-sex marriage comes with some very serious consequences.

After an outcry of public objections, including from one couple who sued, the licenses are once again being revised. Beginning Nov. 17, couples will be able to check boxes next to their names indicating whether they are a bride or a groom. Couples can check bride and bride, groom and groom, or bride and groom, allowing for same-sex and opposite-sex pairings.

It’s important to note that this happened only after Californians stood up to the Department and demanded the change. Had we remained silent and were we not in the middle of a very public battle over the definition of marriage, we may have never seen these important terms restored. We have to continue standing up for what we believe and have already voted for: marriage between a man and a woman.

Unless Proposition 8 passes, state bureaucrats could easily change the license forms back to “Party A” and “Party B” right after the election.

Today is my cute little sisters birthday...

Happy 11th Birthday Am! We love you!!!

YESTERDAY...

Yesterday was my 20th birthday!

Brandon was so cute...he couldn't wait for my birthday so before we went to bed he gave me my first gift...then at midnight my little brother C.J. called to tell me happy birthday!...he was really excited to be the first!

I woke up to breakfast in bed...then it was off to school...as I walked out the door I found flowers, cookies, and a cute card from my best girls, Ash and Whit.

After my classes Brandon picked me up and took me out to Salt Lake for dinner at THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY!! DeLiCiOuS. After dinner I went home to a SPOTLESS house...and lots more presents. Brandon got me the new iPod nano, an iHome, Lucas candy, Reeses, IBC, and a super cute picture frame! After presents we watched P.S. I Love You...

Yesterday was such an amazing day! I had one of the best birthdays ever...thanks to my handsome hubby! He spoils me soooo good! And I'll be the first to admit it :-)

Can it get any better?!

Last Wednesday night Brandon and I went to our friends ultimate game. I invited my girls and we had a little BBQ on the sideline!

We had so much fun at the game...even though we didn't watch much of it. It was great to spend some time with my favorite ladies...sippin our hot chocolate and catchin up on girl stuff.

Camping at Tibble Fork!

Oh how we love camping!

This was Brandon and my first camping experience together and it was so much fun!

We were so excited to go camping that we laid our sleeping bag out on the floor and camped in the spare room the night before we left...we just couldn't wait!

After work...it was off to Tibble Fork for our camping/fishing adventure!

Brandon and his friend Mark spent some time fishing at lake while I scouted out the camp grounds.

We saw this cute grandpa teaching his grandson to fish.

This is the delicious dinner Brandon made me!

We woke up to rolling thunder and this lovely rainstorm!
Our morning started a little stormy but the day cleared up and turned out to be so beautiful.

The lake was sooo amazing, we didn't want to leave...

...but it won't be long until we're back up there!

Today is Brandon, Cameron, and Adam's birthday!

HaPpY 24th BoYs!!

I'm not sure how Cam or Adam celebrated their big day...but Brandon started his off with breakfast in bed!

Then it was off to work...after work (with some help from his friends) I surprised him with dinner from Happy Sumo, Iron man (one of his favorite movies), yummy chocolate dessert, and a new T.V. stand!

We also had time to go to our friends ultimate frisbee game!

All in all we had a pretty fun day!

A quick little update

Brandon and I have moved back to Utah, we're back to work, back to school, and almost all settled into our new home.

Moving in was a little crazy...

We drove from California to Utah, unpacked the car, met our kooky neighbor, ate a quick dinner, and overflowed the toilet twice, all in one day!

We're still on the hunt for furniture but we've had so much fun unpacking and decorating!

We ate our wedding cake the first night in our new home... I just couldn't wait a whole year!

My favorite part of our kitchen is the pea green stove haha!

This is our living room is a pretty good size and it's been fun having our friends over.

And our little bathroom...don't worry the 70's counter top matches the kitchen haha

And this is our second bedroom...which pretty much serves as my closet ;-)

Well that's basically it...

We have had such a blast being married and it has gone by SO fast! It really has only been two and a half weeks but it feels like it's been two days!

I love every minute of it!
